List of Medicare Advantage Plans
You are unlikely to find a more powerful healthcare insurance plan than Medicare Advantage, but there are actually a lot of plans that fall under the category of Medicare Advantage. How do you know which one might be right for you as you try to find suitable coverage? We want to share with you a list of Medicare Advantage plans so that you will be more informed as you try to pick suitable health insurance coverage.
A List of Coverage Plans
There are a few different ways to look at a list of Medicare Advantage plans. One of the most common is based on the coverage a given plan will offer. What that means is how many medical expenses the plan will cover and how well it covers them.
Every Medicare Advantage plan includes some basic coverage. This is guaranteed by Medicare, and any insurance company that sells these plans has to include it. If they alter this coverage in any way, then they will no longer be allowed to sell Medicare Advantage plans, so you always know you are getting at least this basic coverage.
Basic Medicare Advantage- This covers you for just about everything that makes up Medicare parts A and B. That’s hospitalization costs, all but three pints of blood every year, nursing care costs, doctor’s visits, a few medication expenses, some medical tests and more. You’ll also get covered for any ER care, ambulance transportation or any other emergency medical services. Any medical care that is classified as urgent care will be included as well, and that can range from medical tests and surgery to medications and other expenses not covered under parts A and B of Medicare.
Medicare Advantage Part D- You will find this plan under lots of different names, but it is considered the most common kind of Medicare Advantage plan. It includes all the basic coverage along with some added coverage for Medicare Part D’s prescription drug plan. What this handy coverage plan does is take care of many costs related to your prescription drug expenses, such as generic and name brand drugs. Some of the drugs are going to be covered almost completely, but the ones that are expensive name brand drugs that are not as commonly needed are not going to get much coverage at all.
Medicare Advantage with Routine Checkup Cover- This is another fairly common kind of Medicare Advantage plan. It gives you coverage for all the basic stuff once again and coverage for routine checkups with various healthcare providers. You can be covered by this plan for visits to your general practitioner for a general wellness checkup, as well as visits to the dentist, optometrist and audiologist. You can be covered for new eyeglasses or a new hearing aid, of your doctor prescribes them to you.
Some of the Advantage plans combine a couple of these to make for even better coverage. You’ll want to look at your options and figure out what kind of coverage would benefit you best. A List of Network Options
You can also classify and divide the Medicare Advantage plans by how they affect you on your insurance company’s network. This list of Medicare Advantage plans will show you some different ways you can get the coverage we already talked about above.
HMO- You’ll get coverage only on your insurance company’s network. What that means is that you can go to any hospital or medical care facility that has an agreement with your insurer and get full coverage. If you go to any place that doesn’t have an agreement with them, then you shoulder the entire cost of medical care, regardless of what your Advantage plan is supposed to cover you for.
You get full coverage on the network with a PPO Advantage plan, but if you want to go outside of the network for some medical care, you can do that and be partially covered. You won’t get the full coverage of on-network care, but the partial coverage can help you keep your medical casts much lower than they would be otherwise. PPO plans will cost more than HMO plans thanks to their higher overall coverage.
This kind of network option gives you full overage on your insurer’s network as well. It also helps you out if you go outside the network for some medical services. You can get those services at a discounted rate, paying a preapproved cost for each service. It’s not coverage for off network care per se, but it does help you minimize your medical expenses outside of your insurer’s network area.

These Advantage plan options will cover only those who qualify for them, particularly those who have Medicare and Medicaid and who are considered special needs customers.
