List of Medicare Advantage Plans 2020
There are all sorts of Medicare Advantage plans that you can pick from for the coming year. These plans offer diverse ways to cover your medical expenses and ensure that you have peace of mind about your healthcare. We want to give you a list of Medicare Advantage plans for 2020 and explain in detail what they all do and how they all work to benefit you. That doesn’t mean that all of these will be decent plans for you. There will be some that are simply offering too much coverage or that cost too much to be suitable for some seniors.
Medicare Advantage plans are sold by private insurers, but Medicare sets the guidelines for these plans. That means that they all cover the same basic medical expenses with some adding coverage on top of that. Advantage plans do not have any standard pricing, so the insurers that sell them can decide on the rates for these plans. Be sure to use our site to compare prices on all of the plans that we list, as this will let you see which insurers charge the best rates. This is the best way to compare plans and find the lowest possible rate.
Basic Advantage Plan
This is your standard Medicare Advantage plan, and it will only cover the basics and no more. A lot of insurers offer this as their standard plan, and many of them add on benefits and perks that cost nothing extra to the customer to make their standard plan seem special.
The standard plan will cover you for Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B, urgently needed medical expenses and emergency care. All of this is the required coverage that is included in each of the Medicare Advantage plans. If you want more coverage than that, then you will have to look to one of the other Medicare Advantage plans.
Medicare Advantage Part D
This one will cover you for all of the basic expenses that the standard plan does as well as for Medicare Part D. That Part D is a drug coverage plan that takes care of many prescription costs for you, covering name brand drugs as well as some generic ones. Thesis actually a very common Medicare Advantage plan, and you can expect many of the insurance carriers to offer it as one of their top-rated and most popular plans.
Medicare Advantage with Additional Coverage
There are many Advantage plans that cover you for more than the standard expenses. We told you about the Part D one already, but some of them cover you for expenses related to your hearing and your vision. These plans will cover checkups and some medical equipment or prescription items for you. You can also get Advantage plans that cover the basic expenses, the vision and hearing costs and Part D, all rolled into one plan. These are going to be fairly expensive plans, but that kind of powerful coverage can save you money.
Medicare Advantage HMO
No list of Medicare Advantage plans for 2020 would be complete without talking about the network coverage options that are available to you. The most common one that people are going to sign up for is known as the Medicare Advantage HMO plan. This doesn’t affect the coverage for medical expenses so much as it affects where you can be covered. You can get any of those plans we listed above as an HMO. With the HMO option, you would be covered only within your insurer’s network. Going outside the network with an HMO will mean that you are not covered at all and that you would have to pay for the entirety of your medical care.
HMOs may seem like a poor choice when there are other options that can cover you outside the network, but the reason this kind of plan is so popular is because it is so inexpensive. It is an economical way to get your coverage and to ensure that you are not overpaying for the coverage that you need. Anyone who lives somewhere that has plenty of network coverage should probably chose an HMO for its simplicity and value.
Medicare Advantage PPO
This Advantage plan is another network type option that covers you in various places. It will offer you coverage both on and off the network, making it very versatile. You can use this plan to get full coverage within the network and partial coverage outside of it. That can be quite handy when you don’t exactly live inside your insurer’s network or when you do a lot of travelling. The PPO plan can provide cover in more places than any other kind of network option for Medicare Advantage, so it is worth more. You will have to pay a higher price for this than you would the HMO, but if you can use that extensive network coverage, then it could be worth it.
